Sebastian Stan gives an amazing performance shortly after his phenomenal performance
The Apprentice is a standard-issue biography that covers as much of Donald Trump’s rise as possible. What makes it better than those sounds is the strong performance and stylish filmmaking that makes it something more memorable. A supervillain’s origin story is a very apt description for a movie whose main purpose is to show how a monster was created and lost any shred of humanity that was there to begin with.
He pays attention to Trump’s appearance, mannerisms and ambitious personality and comes close to becoming like him
performance in A Different Man, proving that he is the best actor currently working in the MCU and beyond. Jeremy Strong is born to play these roles thanks to his ability to convey a commanding and unflappable presence with ease, and this isn’t the first time he’s done it. Ali Abbasi’s direction has a strong sense of Stan taking the final step in his Trumpian transformation, is horrifying in more ways than one, and uses Kasper Tuxen’s insane documentary-style cinematography to inject plenty of energy into the proceedings.
The soundtrack includes some lively enough songs to keep that energy going, and the score by Brian Irvine, Martin Dirkow, and David Holmes doesn’t sound like you’d expect, and that works in its favor
