Narrative
CIA agent Joe tries to balance her personal and professional life as the spearhead of the CIA’s war on terror. Real military advisors helped to more authentically recreate weapons handling, house clearing, positioning, squad activities, etc. It’s sad to see so many one-star reviews from military personnel and others who clearly can’t stand strong female leads. Folks, this is a fictional show.
It’s meant to entertain
It won’t get everything military-related right, nor does it pretend to. Do you think Yellowstone is an accurate portrayal of ranch life? Definitely not. No need to get offended so easily.
We don’t see ranchers outraged by the dramatization of their industry
To anyone who feels offended by language, violence, and nudity: Have you ever seen Taylor Sheridan’s shows? Lol. While I do think the script surrounding De Oliveria’s character is seriously flawed, it’s clearly written in a way that allows them to lay the groundwork for the show quickly. Saldana is a strong lead actress and I enjoy every minute of it.
Is it 100% realistic?
Her character’s relationship with Annable is well written and it’s nice to see two flawed people navigate a very closed relationship with demanding careers. Overall, the characters are likable and well developed, albeit with some gaps on the part of the writers. There’s a great balance between dialogue and action and some really great fight and chase scenes. Of course not.
Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the show
It’s great!
