A spellbound Agatha Harkness is freed with the help of a teenage boy. Intrigued by his call, she embarks on the trials of the Witches’ Road to regain her powers and uncover the teen’s motivations. Stars Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Debra Jo Rupp and Ali Ann, along with showrunner Jac Schaeffer and executive producer Mary Livanos, share how they prepared for the Marvel series. Exterior scenes of Westview were filmed on Blondie Street in Warner Bros.
The set was previously used for Wandavision
Agatha lives in the house used in the TV series Bewitched (1964). Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 Shocking Revelations from Disney Plus Day (2021). I came into Agatha All Along with no preconceived notions or backstory. So it wasn’t until I watched episode 6 (?) that I realized it had any connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – WandaVision in particular.
I felt ripped off and pissed off
Well, after getting interested in Agatha All Along, I paused it and had to watch WandaVision. While WandaVision has a vital backstory element to Agatha All Along, it’s pretty tangential (and – in my opinion – a much lesser series than Agatha All Along). Well, I finished episode 6 and then dove into episodes 7-9 and I really have to give the show credit. The acting is superb overall, with Hahn as Agatha being a standout.
And it doesn’t unduly harm the series as a whole
The settings have a quirky and original perspective as the series progresses. Above all, the trials that the characters go through and their evolution are well done. The series maintains an engaging and adult plot, without the usual coating where everyone ends up happy in the end. While I don’t think the MCU tie-in was necessary, it is what it is.
I would probably watch a season 2 if it were in the offing
